Qualification:  

  • Foreign higher education degree or a professional qualification requiring at least two years of full-time training 
  • Your qualification must be recognized in the country where it was obtained 
  • Provide evidence of recognition: digital statement of comparability or positive information regarding your qualification – apply for either at the “Central Office for Foreign Education (ZAB)“.

Concrete job offer:  

  • You must have a qualified job offer from a German employer 
  • The job typically requires a higher education degree or qualified vocational training (auxiliary tasks are not sufficient) 
  • Exception: For regulated professions (e.g., doctors, nurses), you can work as an assistant until you obtain the necessary license to practice

 Recognition partnership agreement:  

  • A written agreement with your employer, confirming that you will complete the recognition procedure as part of your employment 
  • This may be included in your employment contract

Language proficiency:  

  • German language skills at level A2 (or higher), according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)

Note: Some professions or qualification programs may require a higher level of German

5. Suitable employer:  

  • Your employer must be qualified for a recognition partnership, meaning they have experience providing vocational training or post-qualification development
  • The competent authority will verify the employer’s suitability during the visa process – for this, no action is required from you
