Visa for qualified professionals: requirements
Your qualification must be recognized in Germany or equivalent to a German degree. You need a license to work in a regulated field like healthcare. Visit the ‘Recognition’ section on Make it in Germany for more information on how your qualification will be recognized.
You have been offered a job in Germany. The job offer must be qualified employment. You will usually need a degree or vocational training to do the work. Auxiliary jobs will not be enough.
Your job does not have to match your qualifications. If you want to work in a regulated profession, you need a license.
If you are a foreign worker over 45, your job in Germany must pay you a gross salary of at least €53,130 a year (as of 2025) – or you need to show you have enough pension coverage.
